A letter to my daughter
Written by

To Camilla, my sweet little girl,

I want you to know that you are loved so much and unconditionally.

I used to say that I needed 8 hours of sleep to function but when you were born that all changed. I actually enjoyed hearing you wake up sometimes 3 times a night because I got to spend time with you, nursing you, cuddling you and looking at your little face and your long eyelashes. It was our special one-on-one time.

Midwives recommend that babies should sleep in their parents' room for only 6 months but I waited until your first birthday. For that whole year you slept right next to my side of the bed in your little cot. I loved waking up to see you there next to me. Eventually you were standing up in the cot, babbling and reaching out for me. I loved seeing your sweet face as soon as I opened my eyes. I reluctantly moved you to your nursery and now check on you at least 3 times before I go to bed.

You bring so much joy and laughter into our lives. You scream at the top of your lungs and pull funny faces to see how we'll react. You are so adventurous and brave. You started to walk one week before your birthday. The chase has been on since then. You ensure that mommy and daddy stay fit. We have to watch you every minute. One of your favourite things is to feed your food to the dogs and run off with their toys.

You love nursery but really enjoy ‘Granny Tuesday’ where you get to spend the afternoon with Granny Jenny. She has a stash of treats and a constant supply of your favourite Babybel cheese. She also lets you watch Peppa Pig. You are a super fan! Daddy loves reading you stories and enjoys showing you off.

It feels like the last few months have flown by. You are tall and starting to look like a little lady, no longer a baby. You have the most stunning blue eyes. We are so excited to see you grow and to hear what you have to say. Don't ever let anyone make you feel like your opinion doesn't matter.

We are looking forward to watching you experience the best that life has to offer. We will make wonderful memories together. I hope that your life is magical and that you see beauty and wonder in the little things. In your first two years we have been fortunate to travel to new countries. I hope that you continue to travel and have glorious adventures.

Sweetheart, there will be difficult times in life but they will pass. I will be there, along with the rest of our family and your Godparents, to guide and comfort you.

Some people have love and money in their lives but feel like they cannot be happy unless they have more money and more possessions. They spend their lives wishing for more, never realising how blessed they are. Some people have nothing. Appreciate what you have. Having a grateful heart is an important part of being happy, my love.

Your grandparents and great grandparents have a sparkle in their eyes when they see you. You brighten up every room you enter and you make people smile. You are very precious. Please remember that you are our treasure. You are kind, you are smart, you are important.

I love you,

Love Mom
